LIBUJSKI HOME – FOR THE ELDERLY, POOR AND DESTITUTE
Around the year 2000, it became clear to us that a number of our poor destitute elderly were not healthy enough to live by themselves. Although our primary mission was to deliver food to the elderly, we decided to build an assisted living home for them.
Through the generosity of the Irish and the Americans, we were able to build a 50-bed assisted living home where the residents had the benefit of running water, bathrooms and air conditioning. The home, with its kitchen, laundry facilities, physical therapy room, recreation room and a room for prayer, was completed in August 2004. Dr. Ratko Peric, Bishop of the Mostar area, consecrated the chapel in September 2004. The home is operated by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul.
The home is fully occupied and has a waiting list.
